THE SEVENTH GAME ENDED IN A DRAW
Today’s game of the world championship match ended in a 60-move draw. Vladimir Kramnik had to play Black against Veselin Topalov for the third consecutive time. Now the Russian leads 4:3. The eighth game will be played tomorrow. Finally Kramnik plays White.

DECISION OF THE APPEALS COMMITTEE TO THE APPEAL OF VLADIMIR KRAMNIK
New members of the Topalov-Kramnik Match Appeals Committee (Vega, Kutin and Gasanov) have explained Vladimir Kramnik that the decision about the result of the fifth game (-:+) was taken by the former Appeals Committee. That’s why it is absolutely final and the new Appeals Committee doesn’t have a power of overruling it.

The 6th game of the WCC match ended in a draw. The score is now 3.5-2.5 in Kramnik's favor. The Russian has filed a protest against the Appeals Committee decision to forfeit him in the 5th game.

KIRSAN ILYUMZHINOV: "THE SCORE IS 3:2 FOR KRAMNIK"
As informed our contributor Mikhail Savinov, yesterday evening FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made a statement for the press. He announced that the sixth game of the world championship match Topalov – Kramnik with the score 3:2 in Kramnik’s favor would take place on Monday, 2 October 2006, at 15.00. Topalov will play White. The reaction of the Russian chessplayer is unknown. Neither Kramnik nor members of his team assisted when this announcement was made.

Chess internet cafe at the Sennaya square hosted semifinals and finals of the St. Petersburg Rapid Chess Cup. Only grandmasters qualified for this stage. Evgeny Alekseev won the men's final, having defeated Konstantin Sakaev. Evgeniya Ovod defeated Olga Stiazhkina in the women's final.
